When Quinta forced NIA to open Moroboro
(As I browse through my archive, I stumbled across my pics on the aftermath of typhoon Quinta December 2012. Though the rains stopped, 22 towns went under water because Moro-boro dam was opened by NIA to reduce pressure on the dam.)
Relief for Quinta victims continues
December 27, rains stopped early afternoon and the sky cleared of heavy clouds. However evacuation continued as floods rise up triggering evacuation to include patients of three government hospitals -- in Barotac Nuevo, Barotac Viejo and Dumangas whose ground floors went under water.
Five are dead and one missing in the aftermath, while 22,000 families sought shelter in evacuation centers.
This is a rare Christmas, my first time to see heavy rains and mass evacuation at the season of the Yuletide.
The pictures below are taken January 2, first office day of the year.
