Boats for Yolanda victims

Some 300 motorized bancas or pumpboats are up for distribution for victims of super-typhoon Yolanda in northern Iloilo, announces provincial administrator Raul Banias, MD, at the flag raising ceremony this morning.

Northern Iloilo towns was the worst hit in the province when Yolanda lashed the Visayas with 300 kph plus wind velocity November 8, 2013. Some 80,000 families in Iloilo, aside from public infrastructures like schools, were displaced as the howler destroyed or partially damaged their homes.

The delivery of pumpboats is yet to fully rehabilitate northern Iloilo where over 10,000 sustenance fishers lost their fishing boats aside from their other properties.
